GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

Século XXI: ESPM's Journal of International Relations is structured into three sections: Dossier, Scientific Articles, and Reviews.

  1. The Editorial Committee of the Século XXI: ESPM's Journal of International Relations accepts original and unpublished works (authored individually or collectively) in the form of scientific articles effectively linked to research. Non-original works (that is, previously published) will only be accepted in the following cases: a) out of print or difficult for Brazilian researchers to access; b) texts must be explicitly linked to research in the field of International Relations; c) translation into a language different from the original; d) other relevant and justified circumstances or reasons will be at the discretion of the Editorial Committee to decide on publication, with a view to promoting scientific debate in the country.

  2. Contributions can be submitted in three languages: Portuguese, Spanish, or English.

  3. Submission is made exclusively through the journal's submission system.

  1. The limit for the article is 20 pages and for the review is 5 pages, typed in Word for Windows, with Times New Roman font, size 12, medium spacing (1.5 space), with justification at the end of the line.

  2. The title should appear on the left margin, typed in uppercase in Times New Roman font, size 14, and in bold.

  3. Subtitles within the article should be typed in mixed case, with bold font, size 12, identical to the text.

  4. The author's name should be immediately below the title, on the left margin. At the bottom of the first page, the author’s academic-professional credentials should be listed, in no more than 5 lines, followed by a reference email address.

  5. The abstract and the abstract (in English) should be up to 10 lines, in font size 10, and inserted at the beginning of the text, accompanied by keywords/key-words (3 to 5).

  6. Footnotes (on the same page) should be used exclusively for comments necessary for the development of the presentation.

  7. Quotes longer than three lines should be highlighted from the paragraph and typed in single space, with font size 10, and without quotes. All quotes need to be listed at the end of the text, in the “Bibliographic References” section (in the same font size), in the order of the author's surname. In the body of the text, only the author's surname, the date, and the page(s) should be indicated, in parentheses, according to ABNT.

  8. Texts formatted outside these norms will not be accepted by the Editorial Committee. The Editorial Committee reserves the right to make all formal modifications necessary to fit the graphic design of the journal.

  9. Received works are initially analyzed by the Editorial Team, which reserves the right to define if they are in line with the profile of the journal. If not, the authors are informed of the decision taken. If positive, the work is sent to two evaluators, who may be members of the Editorial Board or external evaluators. After analyzing the evaluations, the Editorial Committee makes its decision considering the following options: accept; accept with revisions; resubmit for evaluation; or reject. The decision is then informed to the authors.
